The text of the newsletter follows…
Hello to all,
I hope you’re prepared for your French hens, turtle doves, and partridges in that pear tree, because we have only 12 days left until Christmas! Or in the Cajun version, your true love will give you stuffed shrimp, voodoo dolls, and a crawfish in a fig tree. Christmas is quickly approaching, and if you’re like me, you want to get out of the house and see Louisiana at its best. One of the top events next week is NOLA Chefs’ Aid for the Philippines at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside on Monday. Let’s show our appreciation at this inspirational event benefitting the Philippine relief efforts after Typhoon Haiyan. Join more than 40 participating chefs from around the state, including Tory McPhail, Dave Bridges, and Cristina Quackenbush, for an action-packed evening full of popular Filipino dishes, music by Jazz Trumpeter Duke Heitger and Friends, as well as Filipino cultural dance and costumes!
And if you’re on the road for the holidays, or just feel like unwrapping a new holiday tradition, there’s no better way to experience all that a Louisiana Christmas has to offer than by jumping on the Holiday Trail of Lights. Experience the joyous sights and sounds of 8 different towns from around the state, overflowing with brilliant lights, delicious food, awesome music, as well as festivals and parades. From Minden to Pineville, there will be no shortage of holiday spirit!
And whether you’re in your hometown, on a Holiday Trail of Lights, or just traveling to visit family or friends, be sure to take part in all of the other activities around the state. Whether that’s putting on your tackiest and knocking a few back at Shreveport’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl, warming up at the Festival of Bonfires in Lutcher, or hitting the water with Kris Kringle for The Delcambre Christmas Boat Parade!
Thanks to everyone for being a part of this week’s newsletter. Have a great weekend.
